• In-State, In-County rates for all Veterans

Effective July 1st 2015, the Community College of Allegheny County will provide In-State, In-County rates to all Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces and their Dependents.

    • This change is taking place to ensure compliance with Section 702 of Veterans Access, Choice, and Accountability Act.
    • A copy of the college's regulation can be found under Fiscal Administration here.
    • In order to make the process as simple as possible for both the students and the staff without increasing workload on the campuses registration departments the following process has been implemented and tested:

The process for out-of-state Veterans will work as follows in the Colleague system:

    • Students who are out of state who wish to claim in state, in-county status via military, veteran or dependent status must verify their affiliation with the U.S. Armed Services in one of the following ways with the Military and Veterans Services Office on their campus:
    • Veteran students will be required to provide a DD214 to prove veteran status.
    • Dependents of veteran students will be required to provide the veteran sponsor's DD214 along with proof of dependent status, which may include copy of a current marriage certificate, birth certificate, federal income tax return or other documentation as reasonably required by the College.
    • Once the Military and Veterans Service Center staff verifies veterans and dependent status, they will update the VETS screen in Colleague.
    • The system will automatically change Residency status from "3 Out of State" to "2 Out of County".
    • The Bursar will routinely run rebills for these students to assess charges at the reduced out-of-county rates.
