PITTSBURGH-The Community College of Allegheny County will hold an information session on CCAC's Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) program at the Energy Innovation Center (EIC). The session will be held at the Carnegie Library, 2177 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, Pa., 15219, on Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sylvia Elsayed, director of CCAC's EIC facility, will discuss HVAC training opportunities, as well as computer classes and other business and technical programs available at the center.

A new session of the HVAC certificate program will begin in January at the EIC, located at 1435 Bedford Avenue in Pittsburgh's Uptown neighborhood. The program, which takes one year to complete, is ideal for individuals who like to work with their hands and are good with tools and troubleshooting equipment. Job prospects for HVAC technicians nationally are very good-according to the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics, projected job growth for heating, air conditioning and refrigeration mechanics and installers is 14 percent, which is much faster than the average. Regionally, projected job growth for HVAC technicians is a healthy 8 percent, according to Economic Modeling Specialists International (EMSI).

CCAC Admissions personnel will be on hand to answer questions about applying for the program. Financial aid is available for qualified applicants. Attendees are asked to register in advance to ensure adequate space. To pre-register, contact Sylvia Elsayed at selsayed@ccac.edu or 412.482.3381.
