PITTSBURGH—Community College of Allegheny County student Angelica Advent has been awarded a scholarship from the Executive Scholars of The Pittsburgh Promise program. Advent was named an Executive Scholar within the Highmark Scholars program.
Advent is a first-year, full-time student at CCAC South Campus entering the Ultrasound Technician program. She is a Lincoln Place resident and a graduate of Pittsburgh Allderdice High School, where she participated in Jewelry Love, a nonprofit organization based at the school that creates custom-made jewelry for women battling cancer.
The Executive Scholars program matches Promise scholars with esteemed Pittsburgh companies who have provided unprecedented support to the Promise: UPMC, American Eagle Outfitters, Highmark, Giant Eagle, PNC, BNY Mellon, McGuinn Family and Thermo Fisher Scientific. The opportunity to be named among the 45 scholars offers invaluable connections and relationships, which could serve as a pipeline for internships and eventual employment.
Executive Scholars of the Pittsburgh Promise are chosen by academic performance in high school with a 3.5 GPA or above, commitment to community, demonstrated leadership skills and dedication to education and their field of study. The Promise also seeks students who are committed to the Pittsburgh region and plan to work in and contribute to the region after graduation.
