CCAC Boyce and North campus golfers to compete at NJCAA National Tournament in June.
PITTSBURGH-For the second year in a
row, Community College of Allegheny County golfer Ryan Skladany of
Monroeville finished in first place at the National Junior College
Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XX Tournament, which was hosted
by Butler County Community College at Oakview Golf Club in Slippery
Rock May 20-21. Skladany, who attends Boyce Campus, finished with a
low score of 149 over the two-day tournament, beating 19 other
golfers from two-year colleges in the region. CCAC North Campus
student Max Reda of New Brighton also competed, finishing with a
respectable score of 169.
Skladany and Reda are among five
golfers representing NJCAA Region XX who will compete in a field of
84 golfers at the NJCAA Division III National Golf Championship
hosted by Jamestown Community College at Chautauqua Golf Club in
Chautauqua, N.Y., June 4-7.
Skladany, who is majoring in General
Studies, also competed in last year's NJCAA Division III National
Golf Championship, where he tied for 50th place
among 87 golfers. Prior to that, he took first place at the NJCAA
Region XX Golf Tournament held at the Links at Spring Church in
Apollo in May 2018.
"As this is Ryan's second trip
to the National Championship, he has the knowledge and the
experience to be competitive in a tournament of this
magnitude," said Frank Kaufman, Director of Student Life
and Coordinator of Athletics at CCAC Boyce Campus. "I
anticipate that Ryan will play very well next week and will
challenge for All-American Honors against a strong field of NJCAA
Reda is majoring in Chemistry. This
is his first year competing at the NJCAA Region XX Tournament and
the NJCAA Division III National Golf Championship.
