CCAC North Campus expands route of free shuttle service in Perry Highway corridor

PITTSBURGH-The Community College of Allegheny County's North Campus has enhanced its free shuttle service for CCAC students living in the Perry Highway corridor. Due to demand from the area, an additional route to West View, with a stop at the Dunkin' Donuts on West View Park Drive, will be added at the beginning of the fall 2018 semester.

The campus is located in an area not directly served by the Port Authority. The shuttle service began in January on the first day of spring classes to provide a connection to Port Authority resources, improving the quality of life and economic development for residents, businesses, nonprofits and others.

Dr. Gretchen Mullin-Sawicki, president of CCAC North Campus, said that the shuttle will enable students to enroll in programs that are only offered at the campus, such as Data Analytics; ASL Interpreting; and Multimedia Programming, Simulation and Gaming, giving students the added opportunity to attend the campus' new Innovation Lab.

"We hope that this expanded shuttle service will address the need for safe and reliable transportation for CCAC North Campus students, alleviating an issue that may prevent them from attending college," said Mullin-Sawicki.

Beginning August 20, the shuttle will make five runs Monday through Thursday during peak times in the morning and early afternoon. On two of the runs, the shuttle will stop near PAT bus stops on Perrymont Road, Babcock Boulevard and Cumberland Road before returning to North Campus. On three of the runs, the shuttle will stop on West View Park Drive and return directly to campus.

During inclement weather, the shuttle will also transport students and faculty from the lower campus parking lot to the upper parking lot.
