PITTSBURGH—The Community College of Allegheny County’s Allegheny Campus Student Nurses’ Association of Pennsylvania (SNAP) Club will host their fourth “Cookout in the Park with Healthcare Options” on Saturday, September 9, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in Cedar Park on Pittsburgh’s North Side, located across the street from Light of Life Mission at 10 East North Avenue.

The event, which will feature numerous health booth stations, is aimed at helping people in the area who are experiencing homelessness and other interested individuals to obtain free healthcare, safety and prevention information, including blood pressure and diabetes screenings, HIV testing and pregnancy testing. Other participating organizations include Allegheny General Hospital, UPMC, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Jeremiah’s Place, Pittsburgh Aids Task Force, Just Harvest and the Light of Life Rescue Mission.

In addition to the free health information and screening, CCAC student nurses will serve a picnic lunch for all participants. The nursing students and alumni will also provide games for children, as well as handouts of toiletries, clothing, backpacks and school supplies. Also, students in CCAC’s Barber program will offer free haircuts and beard trimming. Organizers expect to serve more than 250 individuals at the event.
