• Meet the CCAC Faculty StoverPortrait

    Name: Jim Stover

    Title: Adjunct Instructor of Philosophy

    Year joined CCAC:
    Spring 2016

Courses currently teaching: Ethics, Introduction to Philosophy, and Mythology

Most memorable CCAC experience: Being a student in a CCAC sociology class at the McKeesport Campus in the early 1970s. During one class we had a chance to talk with convicts from the prison who were the invited guests of our professor. Hearing these individuals share their stories was enlightening.

Why I teach what I teach: I enjoy challenging students to think about the big questions of life, to have an open, yet critical approach to ideas, and to enjoy the privilege of learning.

Something people might not know about me:
I along with another student once had the privilege to meet with the writer and social critic James Baldwin for about thirty minutes, after he had delivered a speech in the 1970s.

Favorite quote: "The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are." (Joseph Campbell)
